DIY: Autumn Bookmarks
There’s nothing better than curling up on the couch with a great book. So many things in Autumn remind me of being calm and peaceful in the comfort of my own home. There’s nothing quite like a hot cup of coffee, a cozy blanket and a good book. I love giving little handmade gifts to my family and friends throughout the holidays. Fall is my absolute favorite time of year and I have a lot of book lovers in my life, so I decided to use some old book pages to create these Autumnal bookmarks. I used very simple supplies and scraps of ribbon to create these adorable handmade gifts. I looked in my craft stash for some fall scrapbook paper and found some book pages that I was willing to cut up.
The bookmarks turned out so adorable and they look so handmade and organic. These are a great favor for book clubs and tea parties! Slipping them in a clear sleeve not only protects them but also gives such a stunning presentation. I will be also making these for my upcoming craft fair. The clear sleeves are perfect for that and I will be sure to sell them all!
Materials and Tools:
- Permanent Glue stick
- Scissors
- Neutral colored solid cardstock
- Book page
- Fall themed scrapbook paper
- Variety of ¼ inch fall themed ribbon
- Crinkled seam binding (or stretchy ribbon)
- Tag topper punch (or you can angle your corners with scissors and use a hole punch)
- 3/16 eyelet
- Cropodile (or any eyelet setter)
- Distress Ink (with distress tool…I used Tim Holtz walnut stain.)
- Clear Sleeves: B2X8SNF
Instructions:
Step 1:
Cut your cardstock, book page, and scrapbook paper down to 2×7.
Step 2:
Glue all the pieces together, sandwiching the solid cardstock in the middle.
Step 3:
Punch the top of your bookmark with the tag topper punch.
Step 4:
Insert and set the eyelet
Step 5:
Choose 4 ribbons and cut them down to the desired length. Slip all four ends into the eyelet hole and fold them in half to create a tassel-like look.
Step 6:
Tie the seam binding around all the ribbons to secure them tightly. Tie a double knot. Trim the ribbons if desired.
Step 7:
Ink all the edges, front and back, with the distress ink to give the bookmark an aged/vintage look.
Step 8:
Slip the bookmark into your clear sleeve and enjoy giving these as gifts!
