Featured Customer: Dough & Batter
Tell us a little about your company:
After graduating from The International Culinary Center in NYC, I created DOUGH & BATTER in early 2008, a small business focused on all things made with, well, dough and batter. I loved following my passion with baking, but at the same time wanted to create play felt foods that emulated real ones. There were a lot of young children in my life – nieces and nephews, children of close friends, etc. And I wanted to give them something close to my heart and that they could play with instead store-bought toys. I soon created my first batch of faux felt Dough & Batter baked goods.
What makes your product unique?
Currently I am a home baker specializing in cookie and sugar art with some faux felt baked goods sprinkled in. My faux felt baked goods are a nod to the real baked goods I sometimes create in my kitchen – highly refined versions of classics like chocolate chip cookies, cupcakes, muffins, croissants and doughnuts. Each set is designed and hand-stitched by me and their “ingredients” are simple – 100% Eco-fi felt, poly fiber fill and cotton embroidery thread.
How do you package your products and what ClearBags™ products do you use?
I love packaging my faux treats in ClearBags so that the product really shines through! Since I use the bags for real & faux baked goods, I like to keep a variety of sizes and styles on hand. My go-to favorites are : SFB35H, SFB3X6Q, FDAGB14 and FG7. A company sticker, with a bow of baker’s string in a crystal clear bag make my faux baked goods look just like the real ones you pick up from your favorite local bakery.
Where do you sell your product?
How long have you been working with ClearBags™ and how does ClearBags™ help
you succeed?
I have been working with ClearBags from the beginning of my business, more than 10 years. ClearBags offers outstanding customer service and quick processing times, along with the always reliable and high-quality product. Their bags keep my real & faux baked goods fresh, especially when they’re heat-sealed.
What one piece of packaging advice would you give to other business owners?
Packaging and presentation is a reflection of you and your product, and a big part of your work’s first impression. Do your research and find the packaging that works best for your needs. Small businesses are becoming more and more reliant on consistent, quality packaging and shipping. It’s the first thing your customers see when they order something from you. So when shipping goods, you want your product to be protected and most importantly look its best when it is received. A good first impression is priceless.
