Featured Customer: Borderlands Bakery

This month we are super excited to share a local cookie company that has captured our hearts: Borderlands Bakery! Lisa is incredibly talented are we are so fortunate to call her a customer. Read on to learn a little more about her business.

Tell us a little about your company:

What started out as a stress reliever became a full blown side-gig in 2015. Borderlands Bakery specializes in decorated cookies and has been a part of many events, celebrations and charity functions. This is a single person operation and I manage this outside of my full-time job as a biotech professional. When not creating cookies, I am creating content for Instagram, where my follower base consists of many other cookie artists from around the world.

What makes your product unique?

My cookies are custom designed and individually crafted by hand, from scratch. These cookies are beautiful and delicious! I pay incredible attention to detail, from the tiny little embellishments on the cookies – down to the packaging. While decorated sugar cookies are popular right now, I execute well and am good at what I do.

How do you package your products and what ClearBags™ products do you use?

I heat seal all of my products with ClearBags flat heat seal bags. These bags are always high quality and provide a true air tight seal. Other brand bags have sneaky leaks at the seams, which allows air to flow in/out very slowly, causing cookies to dry out, which is not what we want! If being sold for events, the cookie are then placed in boxes. Beautiful cookies need packaging that shows off the work, without covering it up. Where do you sell your product?

My business is a cottage license business and I sell direct to customers. I have pop ups during certain time of the year. In December, our schedule is below:

How long have you been working with ClearBags™ and how does ClearBags™ help you succeed?

I have been working with ClearBags on and off for 2 years—in 2018, I have almost exclusively used ClearBags for my packaging needs.

What one piece of packaging advice would you give to other business owners?

We appreciate products with our eyes first. Use suitable packaging for your needs, order samples, and utilize the staff at packaging companies to help you decide on the best packaging.
