Debunking Top Myths About Composting

Myth # 1: Compostable packaging breaks down just like organic waste in any environment.
FALSE! Most compostable packaging needs specific conditions to break down properly. It’s not like tossing an apple core in your backyard.

Myth # 2: If it says ‘compostable,’ it always is.
Watch out for this. Look for certifications like BPI or TUV. These ensure the packaging meets certain standards for compostability.

Myth #3: Composting can replace recycling.
FALSE! Composting is not a one-size-fits-all solution and cannot entirely replace recycling. While composting organic waste and some packaging is beneficial, recycling is more suitable for a wide range of materials, especially inorganic ones.
