Keep Birthday Celebrations Safe

Last Updated on March 10, 2025 by Kira Andrus

Birthdays are filled with joy, laughter, and celebration. Of all the party decorations, balloons take the cake for bringing smiles as well as fun to guests of all ages. While balloons add a colorful touch to birthday festivities, it’s important to use them responsibly to ensure a safe celebration.

ClearBags has developed a list of easy-to-follow balloon safety tips to keep in mind when hosting or attending birthday celebrations:

  • Inflate safely
    • To prevent injury, always use a balloon pump and never inhale helium.
  • Don’t let go– use a weight
    • Tie a single balloon to a single weight– this stops balloons from floating away and entangling in power lines. Never release balloons outdoores.
  • Supervise children
    • Uninflated or balloons that have popped can present a choking hazard– always supervise children.
  • Be latex allergy aware
    • Most balloons are made of natural rubber latex and may cause a reaction in those with latex allergies. Look out for symptoms and seek help if required.
  • Properly dispose of used balloons
    • Snip the end of a balloon with scissors to deflate before placing in a suitable disposal or balloon recycling bin, based on your local recycling regulations.

We wish all of our customers happy, healthy, and safe birthday celebrations this year!
